Hazard Mitigation Plan Tool
One of the most effective means that a community can use to implement a comprehensive
approach to hazard mitigation is to develop, adopt, and update as needed, a local
hazard mitigation plan. A mitigation plan establishes the broad local vision and
guiding principles for reducing hazard risk, and further proposes specific mitigation
actions to eliminate or reduce identified vulnerabilities.
Preparedness Assessment Tool
The Preparedness Assessment helps communities determine what they need to prepare
for, what their current gaps are, and what issues and action items to address. Communities
can use this information to help them efficiently build and sustain preparedness
capabilities.
Resiliency Assessment Tool
This assessment covers the ability of a community to understand the disaster risks
it may face, to mitigate those risks, and to respond to disasters that may occur
so that immediate and longer term loss of life or damage to livelihoods, property,
infrastructure, economic activity and the environment is minimized.
